Edited 6 months agoThe SACD sounds great but the Blu-ray does sound a little better.

The SACD/DVD9 is 7.01 GB in total size.
They might have used Auto-Tune, which could explain the different sound of the voice in this 2018 Remix. -
I'll read these reviews more thoroughly from now on. I did not catch it when listening to this specific release online either.
Sound is good here but the tunes are sped up!

YUK!
It's like YES coming to town then doing a f'n medley of their music
How do I know? I'm 61 and have heard these songs hundreds if not thousands of times in different states-of-mind :) -
I like the new remix but I have to agree: this SACD isn't a good sounding release, it's simply foggy and lifeless to me. I'm listening only the 2 channel version, I don't have opinion from the 5.1 surround mix. If you have a good sound system and good acoustics, the sound surrounding you anyway...
The CD, the blu-ray audio or the stream from Tidal sounds much, much better on my system.
I'm listening CD/SACD from a Denon DCD-2020AE, for BD Audio I use Oppo UDP-203 and I'm listening Tidal via Lumin D2.
I'm a big fan of AP SACDs, but this one was a mistake. Anyway, the booklet and the packaging are great, so I will keep it, but I don't listening this disc. -
It's funny how all the negative bitching is from 2 channel playback, not 5.1. if these folks had a proper 5.1 system, I doubt you'd hear from any of any them

Edited 2 years agoWell what a disappointment this is on SACD. The 2 channel mix does have excellent thick bass that dominates without any distortion which IS good. It's everything else that's underwhelming. The sound quality and sound stage seem too foggy- there is no spaciousness, no depth and it all feels so constricted. It all sounds so dull an devoid of any sparkle. Mundane.

Edited 2 years agoI have a Denon X4200 with a Oppo disc player both are very high end and the sound quality of the SACD sounds awesome! I have all the Pink Floyd's 5.1 discs and this one is on par to them except Dark Side and Wish You Were Here! Those are on another level. Listening to these records in 5.1 is just an amazing experience! You got to have the system and if you do Wow!

I now have both the Blu-ray and SACD mixes as well as many other previous CD versions. At first, I was underwhelmed by the Analogue Productions SACD remaster but then changed the settings in my system to "Direct" and let the SACD do its thing...Much more fulfilling and strong however, dare I say it, I think the Blu-ray blows it out of the water (and Sound Stage). AAD CD versions also are fantastic - you just need to pump them up more than the newer remastered releases.

I compared the original mix on both CD and LP with the remix on CD and SACD. Of course the remix sounds much better than the the original mix. It's like cleaning a dirty window. But when it comes to comparing the SACD vs the CD version of the remix I am almost sure that something went wrong with the SACD. I was so disappointed with this SACD that I visited a couple of audiophile buddies having systems at least as good as mine. I think my system is good enough, and I am trained enough to say the following.
The final verdict is that the CD sounds better than the SACD. I think that the SACD was mastered looking for an excessive analog effect. The CD version of the remix, compared to the original, gives the impression of too much detail in your face. This was my feeling at the first listening. But then I realized that it was caused by the shock of comparing the remix with the foggy original. Now, SACD consumers look for that analog smoothness, therefore, I think that they tried to mitigate the sparkling approach of this remix by smoothing too much the massive contrasts of the remix. Unfortunately this led to a loss of freshness, that is the true spirit of this remix.
In conclusions, I do not suggest to buy this SACD.

My system is a shitty Sony mhc wz88d minicomponent, the cheapest way ever to hear SACDs natively with multichannel, should i Buy it? Or maybe regular cd might sound ok for My lo fi system?

Trying to figure out the point of this release. Presumably this was mixed in 24 bit PCM by James Guthrie and the files sent to Analogue Productions who converted the PCM to DSD and created this disc. It cannot sound better than the BluRay worldwide version. I think SACDs can sound great if the DSD is coded directly from the analogue tape. To make this I could just recode to DSF from ed 24/192 PCM files.
