It’s amazing to receive a 2nd hand record that’s 40 years old and to sit back and hear a nice warm, lush and crisp playback when you listen for the first time.
This for me is Coltrane in his ultimate sweet spot - searching and spiritual yet still lyrical and melodic with a noble and elegant tone.
This pressing is really good and the 40 years since my copy’s manufacture have been very kind to it. Thank you to the previous Japanese jazz fan who obviously looked after it very well until now! Every instrument has a wonderful vibrant clarity. The vinyl as another reviewer noted is a translucent brown when held up to the light, have never seen this before but whatever the vinyl formulation is, it does a great job.

My copy is pressed using translucent brown vinyl, which can be seen when held up to light. Is this the same for all of this release, or were some pressed on plain black vinyl?
