I find the pressing order assigned to these 1st 7" versions of 'Rock Lobster' (& the very first recorded release by The B52's) to be more theoretical than a collector's gospel (only my opinion & happy to be corrected); because logic would argue as to why a sleeve with less information (in this case missing text) would come AFTER a version with additional printed info? It is usually the other way around.

This might happen due to legal issues, which is not the case here, or at a stretch losing the finished artwork & reverting to an unfinished saved version of the art (unlikely). BUT to add some smoke, this version https://discogs.sitiosdesbloqueados.info/release/4291341-The-B-52s-Rock-Lobster which is also cited as a second press has the mirror- opposite rear cover, with just the text & no image! So, these two may have been released in unison for a bit of art play/fun...

For certain the versions listed here are the tip of a random iceberg, a slurry of indie distribution before getting signed to Warner, with plenty of colour / text variants & perhaps accidents & misprints.

      Q. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THIS SINGLE LISTED ABOVE IS THE SAME SINGLE AS WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT IT IN 1978.
THE SONG ROCK LOBSTER WAS SHORTER THAN ON THE ALBUM. i ALWAYS PREFERRED TO THE ALBUM VERSION.
WONDERING.? MY SINGLE WAS ONE OF THE FIRST 10000, ORIGINALLY RELEASED BY THE BAND. BACK IN 1978
I WAS IN JUNIOR HIGH. GOD THAT MAKES ME FEEL SO OLD..

Hear it on John Peel (where else) then Saturday morning, 242 to Chingford, 69 to Walthamstow, hop off in Hoe Street, cross over to Small Wonder and of course Pete's got a copy. Time for a bacon butty in the market before busing home to play this. Still sounds as weird and homemade as it did then. Shame the roneoed cover is a bit tatty, but so am I after all this time.
