I own this version, & pressured myself to do some detective work after reading about the 'Planet Claire' compilation give-aways of a similar looking 7". It cost me a fair bit.
Planet Claire was released 1995. Unless someone had a ton of copies under a filthy mattress for 17 years, none of the featured 7"s on these pages were involved.
The covers are all pressed from the same paper (weight & texture), art from source (OK with differences BUT clearly 1978 print) & the dead giveaway is the record centre: all have a nice 1cm 'dip' around the cut out, so they slot easy on & off the centre- weight.
Features like that were largely overlooked past the late 80's (along with deep groove pressings that don't get ruined by one light scratch, sigh!).
I have 3 of the featured 1978 pressings & all are very clearly '1978'.
There may have been a replica issued, if I understand correctly.
BTW the music: Completely raw. brilliant, shrieking, bone shaking 1st take of 'Rock Lobster', before it was polished for commercial re- release. The commercial version is one of my all time fave's; but this earlier indie version is absolutely priceless & with 'extra's'. -
one of my sweetest vinyl stories ever: i bought this off of a trash picker in a stack of like 100 7"s for $10. Stack also included this one
