The blue and white propeller design is one of the most beautiful colored vinyl releases I've ever seen. I don't have a turntable but still bought this because of how incredible it looks.

To add to the comments - I get this for half price at WalMart. As a Canadian, I was excited to see this as we don't have the same vinyl choices at the WalMarts in Ontario, so couldn't it up. I gave it a clean and sounds pretty good. I did have the same sleeve issues as others along with the card stuck to the vinyl and needed to peal it off. All good otherwise.

Received as a gift brand new. Vinyl is noisy and unremarkable. Also no cardboard jacket, what you see is what you get. Don’t be sucked in by the attractive splatter vinyl, I will end up giving my copy away.

I am very, very happy with my copy. Yes, the packaging is horrid. But the sound is truly amazing. Very detailed, very rich. Agree with some others in regard to the title track and Tiny Dancer being especially well mastered. No skips but some surface noise even after cleaning (not as much that it cuts through the music, though). Nevertheless very, very happy to have picked this one up.

A couple to crackles at the start of side 1 and a little noise in between first 2 tracks on side 2, otherwise excellent sound. Packaging is appalling with the plastic wallet sticking to the disc creating most of the noises I suspect. Now in a nice cozy inner. Loses most the info you'd expect on a cover - e.g. no credits etc. Package Includes .wav . "Propellor" design on disc makes me feel seasick when its playing.
Sound is a little bass heavy but the mastering really brings out the complexity of drum patterns and sounds particularly on the title track. Excellent separation. Very slightly muddy on midrange but on the whole very listenable.
Musically more complex then EJ's previous albums but not quite reaching the peaks of Tumbleweed Connection. Standouts for me are Tiny Dancer and the title track. -
I got lucky from the other reviews, just have to repackage it. Minimal surface noise, had a pop at the beginning of side 2 but it was gone on second spin. (static then)
Definitely something going on with channel/waveform shifting on Levon. Don't have an OG to compare it to, but it seems slightly ungh muted? Could be my stylus is newer
or that I'm running a huge sub on my b channel.
Bottom line for a Sound of Vinyl release at Walmart sale price. I'm happy with it. -
VERY disappointed! I am not a fan of coloured vinyl but didn't see an alternative option when I ordered the Propeller version. Like others I had to cut the pack to get the vinyl out! It has clicks and pops and despite being re-mastered by Bob Ludwig, a respected engineer, it sounds poor in a lot of places. Yes some parts sound clear but lower end is not well defined. I wonder if it is the pressing itself that is affecting the sound quality. Lots of stuff being picked up on the stylus despite using a microfibre brush and Zerostat.
I have a high end system (Rega RP10/Aphelion/Aria phonostage into Naim 552/500 with Ovator speakers) which is revealing but I was expecting much better. A shame as this is one of my favourite Elton John albums.
I have no idea whether the box set edition has a better pressing and sound quality but I would avoid this gimmick version if you want good quality sound. As I say perhaps I have been unlucky. -
Edited 10 months agoThe only good thing about this is the vinyl looks cool. Horrendous packaging plastic glued onto the vinyl had to peel it off. Bad pressing plenty of pops. It's only good to look at. It doesn't have a cover. Played it once never again. PS the splatter vinyl for Honky Chateau is even worse

I was digitizing mine and noticed Levon looked odd. I compared to the US Original and L/R channels are mapped reversed. I returned and bought the 2018 Remaster and woah now... L/R are correct and wave form is way different than this one... THIS IS NOT ROBERT LUDWIG REMASTER!!!

I bought a copy from Walmart in-store. The B-side was pressed off-center. Noticeable about 2/3 of the way in. Took it back and got a refund. Thought I would try ordering it from the Walmart website instead. B-side same issue. Pressed off-center.
