Elton John – Man Across The Water

Its a good warm cut. Not very sparkly compared to my other Elton records but is well balanced. Flat and clean too. I wouldnt pay over $30, there may be better cuts than this but its good enough to buy. Colorway is done well.
Get rid of the pvc sleeve it comes in and replace with a proper polypropylene sleeve to prevent permanent off gassing damage to record.

The high end is almost totally missing from my copy. I have to turn treble up to full, which of course generates a somewhat unnatural sound. I can't think of another record in my collection where I have to turn treble up that high. Matrix 1C/1C. Side A at least is from a Pitman source.

This is my favorite Elton album. After a couple thorough cleanings it sounds amazing. The placement of strings, piano, guitar and vocals creates such a wonderful soundstage. Tracks 3 and 4 on my copy lose a bit of the higher end range in the vocals in particular. Almost sounds like the vocals were overprocessed. Very low surface noise during quieter moments with just vocals and piano.

Vinyl is quiet. Record sounds OK. Not many pops or clicks. Songs sounds a bit muted. But I don’t have any other vinyl copies to compare it to.

Packaging is odd. No card board sleeve. There is a cardboard back. Record is in a think plastic cover. No sleeve to protect the vinyl.

The blue and white propeller design is one of the most beautiful colored vinyl releases I've ever seen. I don't have a turntable but still bought this because of how incredible it looks.

Just bought this on L.p. record 6748710, 2018 pressing. First time I have herd the Compleat record, what a great album, wish I had discovered it earlier. I was looking for a first pressing from 1971, but a good clean copy is hard to come by and there asking a bit much in price. I have a good high-end Turntable, and this sounds awesome.

Certainly impressive, though a little thin on bass for my taste. Soundstage is the big winner here, and Elton’s voice is totally on-point.

Stellar sound on this. The OG’s from The Netherlands are some of the best you will find of the era.
