I couldn't choose between this album or "The Queen Is Dead". Both maybe.

The sound quality is excellent - dynamic, lively, punchy. Articulate, tight and agile bass. Highly musical. Never thin, harsh or lacking detail. A typical engaging midrange forward 80's record. Without hearing a UK press, I'm very content with this Aussie press.

The lyrics for "This Charming Man" say "Return the king" and not "Return the ring". I found a 2011 copy and it has this same typo. Really? Nice quality control Warner Music Group. Emailed them about it and they were completely useless and basically told me to buy a new copy when they get new shipments in (like I'm supposed to know when that is), hoping that they will have fixed the error, and then likely having two copies with the same misprint. What a joke. Otherwise, decent enough packaging, but WEA really needs to up their quality control.

Completely acceptable repress. I'm playing it on a 70s system and it sounds like I as a youth. I chase that sound...and the sonics are clean and warm <ortofon blue cartridge> . Unless you can score a OG mint and afford it...welcome to the world of The Smiths starts here.

I can assure you this DMM pressing sounds just awesome.

Was lucky enough to pick this up from Disk Union Osaka on my most recent trip to Japan. This pressing is amazing. All of the problems in my life evaporate when I put this on. Do yourself a favor and buy if you get a chance.

Can anyone explain it to me , why this LP was sold without the cover, just in the inner sleeve?

They call it a "softpack" but it is much stiffer than a regular cardboard sleeve, yet not so stiff that the sleeve won't stay closed. I avoided the earlier Complete box because of the shrunken lyrics on the vinyl replica sleeves, and I am happy this release includes the lyrics in a booklet. After all, the lyrics are part of the main draw of The Smiths, right? However the lyrics are still printed quite small, with a baffling amount empty space around the edges. But still, at least they are legible. Of course, they crop the cover to fit the rectangular sleeve, but the booklet still has a uncropped cover just like it would be if were used as a normal jewel case booklet. Maybe I would have preferred a square sleeve, but no big deal. Overall, I am happy with this reissue, and happy that I avoided the Complete box set, and I will definitely get the reissues for the other albums.
