John Coltrane – Duke Ellington & John Coltrane

A very nice press, wax completely silent, very good notes on reverse. The inner sleeve does seem to generate rather a lot of static, not a problem as I've swapped it for a rice paper sleeve.

London Jazz Collector writes about european Impulse that "sonic quality is quite acceptable" but not "as dynamic as US originals which are to be preferred." Surely you cant generalize all european pressings as they were done by a lot of different engineers. Anyway I heard a lot of which are really great and this is one of them. When the cymbals/hi-hat start at the beginning of "Stevie" and "My Little Brown Book" its like an RVG-cut. The mono-mix is great

As others have said, this is an excellent presentation, as typical for Acoustic Sounds, the gatefold and the pressing itself. What hasn’t been said about this album at this point? It’s one of the few jazz albums that many an average person knows about, whether on its merits or through sampling, demonstrating its timelessness. It’s not ‘Trane’s most inventive playing but it doesn’t need to be whatsoever. It’s clear everyone involved in this recording really enjoyed themselves. Highly Recommended, especially if you can find it on sale.

Awesome pressing. No crackles or pops. The gatefold is epic as well.

Very nice sounding reissue. I would give 4 out of 5 stars because it doesn't have the clarity and presence of say an Analogue Productions or Music Matters product, but it still sounds great, and especially for the price point.

What everyone else said here. I do not mind Coltrane coming through the right speaker as opposed to the left.
The only duplicates in my music collection are those of a different music format. I am not one to fill space with several issues of the same LP. To those that do, more power to y’all.

Superb quality press in a beautiful glossy gatefold package. Good dynamic, dead quiet.

The disc is released by Waxtime in color original packaging, nice cover...
taking the disc out of the inner case, you could see how dusty it was...and there were hairs on it.
There are a lot of scratches on side B of the record, which makes the record player bounce...
The sound is surprisingly beautiful. dynamic, with good space... obviously remastered, but it's nice how the sound engineer placed the band on the stage... from the mono material?...
the sax is very nice...the bass is pleasant and lifelike...the piano reflects the recording level of the 60s
the album is clearly not an audiophile... the cut is noisier than the others in the category, e.g. other wax releases, dol, etc...
not MOV... but better than TonePoet...

I order than other one, instead. But the same edition... I really like it.

I ed version that was not ed on Discogs until now. Duke Ellington & John Coltrane - Label: Impulse! ‎– MVCZ-29 Paper Sleeve, 20bitK2 HQ CD. Accepted by Discogs and appears in my products. However, it is not listed among all versions of Duke Ellington & John Coltrane. I wonder why ? Can somebody help me ? Thanks in advance.
