My copy of this beautiful LP has XSM116313-2D COLUMBIA NY etched and written into the runout. I originally thought it was either a 76 or 77 US pressing, but the closest I can find ends with 1A, or 1D. There is nothing listed with 2D, or Columbia NY. I'd love to know what this is.

Quintessential bop statement! Few records, apart from select Blue Note releases, encapsulate so compellingly the jazz ethos. Present are the Miles regulars of the era (a star-studded array of musical talent) with the addition of Cannonball seemingly spurring them on to great heights. There's not a weak moment on this record mainly because Miles doesn't resort to including a blues number or a ballad. These are eccentric, intricate, (for the most part) uptempo melodies that swing. Those only familiar with Miles Davis' work from the late 60s and 70s don't know what they're missing.
