Comus – First Utterance

This sounds great to my ears (on a Linn LP12 w nice MC cart). Pressing is silent, great package, plus bonus disk. Nothing more you really need.

Bought two copies of this clear pressing. It sounds great but both copies were slightly warped. Purchased from different sources.

So, 7 years later, MOV decides to put this record on the market again, now on crystal clear vinyl, and, INCREDIBLY, without fixing the artwork, which is still super blurry, both inside and outside (although inside is much worse).

I have a bootleg copy from 2017 with perfect printing quality. The outside is incredibly sharp, the least that such beautiful artwork deserves. I find it simply incredible that the label can't get their hands on a higher definition image.

My copy didn't come sealed, but inside a sleeve with an adhesive flap. Considering that the vinyl is crystal clear, making it difficult to assess its condition, I believe this is a terrible packaging choice.

Overall, the pressing is very good (at least that!). The record is perfectly flat and very quiet (I noticed a few clicks only on the last track, even after cleaning it, but it doesn't bother me). The sound is dynamic, and the stereo separation is very good.

This reissue, coming 47 years after its debut, sounds amazing. I suspect that this is a remaster in disguise. The only thing that would have made this masterpiece better is 24-bits, but I'm very happy with this as is.

What about the matrix numbers? This one not has it?

Dead quiet vinyl, one of the quietest I own. Very good sound quality as well. Such a unique album! Rarely have lyrics and music matched so well to evoke such an eerie atmosphere.

The record itself has some minor black in it, not completely clear...not sure if it's a production issue or delibarete

I have had this pressing for years, probably from 2005 or so. The actual album pressing is very nice, flat and no warps. Obviously done before the vinyl craze cash grab became a thing. But the extra LP seems to be a rush job pressing. On mine the vinyl has those tiny pots all over it when you hold it to an angle in the light. Maybe it was a fast pressing job, heating issue or at the end of the plate's life, I have no idea. It plays okay but looks like an old 70's bootleg. But like I said the main LP is fantastic.

It comes off as a little too bright, in my humble opinion.
