In 2010 it was re-recorded, titled Battle Hymns MMXI, the narration on "Dark Avenger" was recorded by Christopher Lee (Orson Welles died in 1985)

I have pretty mixed feelings about this 2001 remaster.

Joey DeMaio did a pretty decent job trying to get the most out of the lower frequencies and the higher frequencies in this 2001 remaster whereas Peter Mew for EMI Records in the 2000 remaster was probably giving the best that Abbey Road Studios had.

Both are well intended. Mew has an added grit to Ross the Boss' guitar, but the bass is pretty lacking and stays pretty much in the mids. Donnie Hamzik's snare and cymbals are pretty mashed together in Mew's remaster, giving it a pretty thin and not "true metal" sound. It also has a pretty contained sound that makes for a sometimes consistent mix, but feels a bit off.

DeMaio at least had some sense to try to make each instrument occupy the spectral range as discretely as it should. I dislike DeMaio's decision to brickwall and compress it, even though it could have been the most practical way to ensure Joey and Ross both have the strong foundation to the compositions. It just loses the natural element of the anticipation and the buildup especially in "Metal Daze", "Dark Avenger" and "Battle Hymn". Ironically, DeMaio's remaster of "Manowar" has Ross the Boss' guitar solo being very crystal clear that Ross' solo is at last articulate and not lost in the mix; "Fast Taker", too.

The 1980s CD issue is the same as the streaming version issued by Capitol Records, fortunately; while having great dynamic range, the EQ is rather flat that you might as well go set the EQ. I prefer DeMaio's remaster, then the 1980s CD, and last, the 2000 Peter Mew remaster. I also do not like how in the track "Battle Hymn" for the 2001 CD, DeMaio takes all the credit when every pressing has Ross The Boss as co-writer. Ross the Boss deserves to sue DeMaio for this and be finally compensated.

Qualidade top, comprei de segunda mão hoje. Praticamente sem chiados, e qualidade de gravação excelente comparados com outras versões que já vi e ouvi.

I don't see any difference with Manowar - Battle Hymns. Matrix code variations are not different editions.

My version has the following Matrix numbers:
              Side A: SILBT 11247 - 1 ?
              Side B: SILBT 11248 - 3

Could it be the same version as this one?

This is the definitive cassette version of the album that starts off with the self-titled song Manowar and I can't imagine it any other way I love this debut and Manowar in general but theirs something different here than what would come later A little uneven but a small price for an early metal album The production is good concidering its 1982 3.8/5 classic
