This is the "original version" of "Defender", released only as a single in 1983, It was recorded during the "Into Glory Ride" sessions, but it wasn't included in the album due to time constraints of the vinyl.
Narration was made by American actor Battle Hymns")
B/W (backed with) "Gloves Of Metal" (in the original issue) and "Hatred" (in the remastered reissue), both taken from the 1983 album "Into Glory Ride"
This original version cannot be found on any album or compilation, because the 1987 version was used instead.

Is this version a remastered take on the original 1983 single or is this a third version that is a little longer than the reworked version on FIGHTING THE WORLD? Cannot find the time length on the original vinyl editions; but know that the FtW edition would likely have been referenced for the Geffen reissue of INTO GLORY RIDE?
