The previous 3 albums all built on each other as Joel’s songwriting became more consistent. While I love Streetlife Serenade, I think this is his first great album. Strong effort start to finish and sets the stage for, arguably his greatest album, The Stranger and the run of multi-platinum albums to come.
I have a nice clean pressing of this and it sounds great. Quiet, nice separation, the vocals are very present. I’m guessing any of the first presses are going to be similar. Go get one in NM. Because of the millions of copies out there, up until Stormfront, exceptional copies of Joel’s entire catalog can be had at bargain prices.
