Edited 8 years agoAn excellent return. This could have gone bad but the whole ensemble with guests does not disappoint here. As usual, Ali Shaheed have not lost his professors touch on chopping up beats. He serves up some refreshing stuff here. Modern mixed up with classic soul and r'n'b. This man embodies alot of what ATCQ is in of sound.
Although its not purely a conscious hip hop album, it throws in a colorful myriad of sounds. I hear neo-soul, dub reggae. Some trademark Jack White-esque vocal processing and plenty distorted guitar. Hell I even hear some classic prog-rock going on in there.
Lyric performance still as tight with political messages & Cryptic poetry. I sense a lot of anger in there too pointing towards the Trump electoral and the elitist society..
Still though, all in all, a very solid album from the Tribe. It surely grows on me each listen. -
It looks like the samples on "The Donald" that were removed quickly after the initial release have actually been added back on music streaming site. I wonder if this will affect physical versions- my vinyl copy of the album has it censored.

I don't get all the beef with the mastering? Back in the day, real DJ's (you know who you are) had to (sometimes) play an LP cause a track wasn't available on 12'' single. Does anyone this? Therefore the gain on the mixer was TURNED UP all the way to 10 (and you got some hahahaha). Anyways, the project is dope and a great finale! #ATCQ4EVA

for the vinyl complaints, since nobody is buying records and CD's anymore they are going to use the cheapest methods to distribute the music. the vinyl master is made from the CD master to cut costs. vinyl mastering requires a totally different process and engineering that adds to production costs. the vinyl is just a copy of the CD. thats why it sounds like crap

I bought the CD....it sounds fine to me. It does have a very analog sound to it, like it was recorded on old school reel to reel tape.....maybe that's what people are complaining about?
-
I hope they fix the mastering on the vinyl or this is just a tease of amazing music....when you think your buying the best weed in the world and find out its middies.

Am i the only person that went out to get the 12'' to find out that it doesnt fuckin exist? I mean......Seriously.....How??????

Edited 8 years agoPeople be complaining about the mastering... no problems here with the CD version. Is it just the AAC version's mastering that be bad?

Edited 8 years agoThe music is top notch but the sound quality is a piece of shit unfortunately. At the first listen I had to switch off my speakers cause I thought that the woofers burned out or something. Waaay too mid heavy and thin sounding
