"Dance of the Dawn" (CD2-3, BD-15) is identical to the extended version of "The Revealing Science of God" found on the 2003 remaster from Rhino. The printed booklet erroneously lists this as a "studio run-through" as the packaging was printed before the decision to press this version was made.
The version of "Dance of the Dawn" that appears on CD2-2, BD-5 and BD-10 is the same but is further extended, revealing additional music at 15:39-15:54 and 18:53-19:01 that, like the extended intro of 0:00-1:58, was edited out of the original album release. This detail is not noted anywhere on the packaging.

Edited one year agoIt took some time to get an affordable copy, but the original’s always strangely diffuse sound clears up a sparkling musical firmament with this box and this ingenious remaster by wizard Wilson. It was already released in 2016, but always one by one... ;) Keep on rockin‘! -
One can only concur with the other reviewer.... a total revelation of a remix. While i always like the album it used to make me want to upgrade my hifi. This is WAY better than any hifi upgrade and serves as HUGE proof that you only get out what you put in. Wilson deserves knighthood just for this remix alone!

Out of the 5 remasters by Steven Wilson, this one, for Tales, is truly eye-opening. The original album suffered greatly from a muddy, flattened mix. On this one, Alan White's playing is crystal clear and sounds like a drum kit, not like cardboard and trash cans. The vocal harmonies feel vibrant and alive; the guitar tones and synth timbres have the nuance they always had but we as listeners were unaware of until now.
Also, glad Panegyric included that banded promo copy on here so i can avoid trying to hunt a copy down. Whomever banded it must've hated what they were listening to, those bands come mid-verse, mid-solo – never an appropriate moment.
