40th Anniversary Edition
Half-Speed Mastered coming with certificate from Abbey Road and printed inner sleeves.
Includes Back-to-Black card which gives you all 10 album tracks as 320 kbps mp3 files. Those files aren't a copy of the Abbey Road remaster but a copy of the 2005 The Complete Recordings release (same/similar to 2006 Arrival Deluxe Edition).
On the back of the cover they didn't change the tracklist - it's still listed as one LP with five tracks on each side. Only on the back of the "Abbey Road Obi" they listed it in the correct way.

Yes, the bass is strong with this one. Is this the best Miles could do with what he had to work with? Is this the way they intended? Hey it might even sound good on tinny speakers. Can definitely hear some additional detail but I totally get why someone might feel it's a bit muddy with all that forward bass. I think Miles heard you and that's why later albums don't sound quite as bassy.
That Discomate release better be good, by the way, since you just made me go and order it. 🤣 -
I've bought all the half-speed Abbey Road remasters and the only one I really enjoy is Super Trouper. I have a good quality turntable and hifi separates and ST is the only vinyl reissue that sounds significantly better because of the 45 speed and mastering. Arrival, The Album and Voulez-Vous are all bass-heavy and often quite sibilant in the higher frequencies, with the mids dull and muffled. I have other half-speed masters (at both 33 and 45) which sound spectacular, especially compared to these ABBA reissues. Not value for money.

Edited 9 months agoThis edition is dreadful - muddy / lacking definition & detail. Artwork is completely washed-out. How the hell can you lose the original artwork? Your go-to copy of this album is the 1978 Japan reissue. Excellent bass and drums, and clear separation of instruments. I enjoy the sound of this release - but ittedly I am a listener who enjoys bass - so where some may find this too bass heavy - I’m like ....gimme gimme 😊
So as you may surmise from the above statement - audiophile means nothing to me technically. If a release sounds brilliant on my system to my ears - winner winner chicken dinner.
Loving all the ABBA half-speed masters thus far...bring on the rest! -
