One of my favorite albums. Absolutely pleasing jazz-soul, and funk are eminating off this album. It has just the right amount of punchiness and melody that hits the spot. It’s a 5 out of 5 stars in my personal opinion. I highly reccomend that you listen to it, regardless of your taste.

Definitely in my top five funk records. There isn't a weak track on this. Put this lp on and let it play through. The drums.... oh my god. I especially enjoy the mellower tracks on this, goes great with a cold beer on a summer day.

'Give It Up'. Simply one of the most amazing Breakbeats all time. It was George "Funky" Brown from Jersey City the responsible for these legendary Drum Breaks on Kool And The Gang's 'Give It Up' (1970), largely sampled over the decades by countless artists from different genres. The best period of the super Funk band had also Gene Redd as producer & arranger (father of singers Sharon Redd & Penny Ford). Many of those that didn't have the privilege of hearing this album at the time it came out certainly heard those beats on ace tunes such as 'Hear The Drummer (Get Wicked) and 'Don't Sweat The Technique'.
