The men of Pearl Jam are approaching the fifty, but that is by no means audible. The energy is unprecedented on Lightning Bolt. Opener Get Away is a 3FM-worthy stunner and the rock machine rumbles uninhibited by then. Someone who – strictly hypothetical, that speaks – never heard of Pearl Jam, might think it a band of enthusiastic twenty-somethings. With an old-fashioned-style sound. Let's make them forgive that, they are well once the youngest anymore. And that they make standard rock, heck they have created themselves, as it were, by default. It's a tricky torsen to last, such a world's debut album with an evergreen as Alive. That a song like Sirens, with the trailing-emotional vocals of Eddie Vedder, very reminiscent of the best work of the band, initially generates feelings of nostalgia: was the whole album but so. But we are in the year 2013 waiting for a oldskool grunge album? No, but a plate that every now and then, for a moment, as if by lightning, a rich grunge past shows.
