I just found a copy of this, and while there is some sibilance, it sounds really incredible, and I have none of the hum that others have reported.

Edited 3 months agoWell, the good news is that everybody's excited for the Blu-Ray reissue box set of The Lamb. The better news is that it's using the original mixes, not the awful, superloud 2008 remixes. The even better news is that it's getting released in Japan, and they'll even include the original Japanese song titles. The bad news is, it looks as though the Japanese release is just going to be an American or European import with a Japanese sticker. Too bad. I would have bought it otherwise. But I hope Warner Japan will reissue the rest of the albums someday.

Mine pertains to the US Analogue Productions SACD/CD CAPA 013 SA, while the original UK cd is fine, it’s nice to have an alternate version of such a great album, and to hear what Phil is doing with the bass drum :).

This one has the hum/whine noise running throughout. As it starts the moment the stylus touches the record, all the way to the end of the deadwax runout - this suggests to me that it is due to faulty or incorrectly aligned equipment, potentially the cutting lathe, when the vinyl was cut. This sort of thing should have been easily spotted in the QA process, if there was one, or maybe they did hear it and didn't care. I've had other albums with this issue, thankfully rare, but swapping them for another copy (of the same cut) won't change anything.
In any case, it's not on the master tape - just the vinyl cutting equipment that was used at the time. That's not to say the master doesn't have some hum issues in places of the recording though (the first CD issue revealed this), but it's nowhere as prominent. -
I have a UK version CGS101 LP Gat the sleeve notes say it is marketed by Charisma and manufactured and distributed by Phonogram Ltd but the label says distributed by Virgin. Any help on which edition would be gratefully received.

It turns out my copy is a composite of two separate editions listed here: LP 1 has the “Marketed by B & C ...” on the label, whereas LP 2 has “Manufactured by B & C ...” on the label. Everything else identical to this listing including matrix numbers + Porky / Pecko. Dutch printed sleeve. So, which edition is mine then?

Just found a LP Gat release by Phonodor, product of Litratone, Haifa, Israel. Set 4402, year of release 1978. Will thank for some help to edit it! I'll gladly provide photos + all the details. Many thanks!

Edited 7 years agoreally great sounding, some of the best deep bass i've heard on my system.
the new remixes by Nick are also quite good especially bringing out the guitar but
this pressing still seem to have more weight and bottom end. -

Not listed here, the US 8-track tape (in pink cartridge) presents the album in incorrect sequence. LP side 2 material is presented as Program 3 and vice versa. Songs are presented in correct sequence within each LP side/program, but the sides/programs are in the wrong order.
