I finally found this pressing, so I was able to compare it with the previous pressings that I had (official and bootleg reissues). it's clearly incomparable, perfect soundstage separation, everything is clearly audible, don't listen to those who describe the mastering as "muddy", they must hurry to change equipment... What a treat, the best pressing what I have heard of this masterpiece!

Although this is not the most sonic sounding record out there, it’s damn good for what it’s supposed to be. Very muddy but yet packs a punch. Drums sound great, vocals sound good too and bass is on point. If your using small speakers or a small amp you may have to crank it up more than normal but it’s not terrible. Worth picking up

I don't know if you guys are aware, but this record is supposed to sound muddy. Got this pressing, sounds great, and muddy!

Don't waste your money, this pressing is crap like all the others. I used to have it, but sold it off years ago

In response to "vosarnath" from below: If you look at the details written on all the promos and singles released in association with this album, they all refer to the album title as simply "Sky Valley".

What is the quality like on this original pressing?
I just bought the Rhino repress and it is terrible. Very quiet, lots of surface noise and even some pops and clicks, despite it being brand new. -
Edited 12 years agoHello. I believe that the title of this album is "Kyuss", i.e. that it's self-titled. It is more usually known as "Welcome to Sky Valley" because of the photograph on the cover. If you have any definitive proof either way I would be glad to hear it on this thread. Thanks!

Welcome to Sky Valley indeed and what a place. All the pieces click together here for Kyuss and they make there best and most well rounded album. It just roars along, like your in some big blocked V8 American muscle car, driving foot to the floor thru the sunsoaked desert with two lane blacktop as far as the eye can see.
