Im so happy to finally have a copy of this album.
The mastering is very good, and to my ears i wont even try to claim a comparison to an original as they're usually so beat up its not a fair experiment.
This may be nitpicking but this isnt the cheapest of records to be in a single sleeve.
Bennie Maupin records deserve to be a little more of an event. Its a superb record - worth getting but dont expect a deluxe package. -
Edited 25 days agoPleased with this. None of the noise floor issues encountered earlier in the VBR series are present here. RKS has delivered a fine cut. Recommended.

This sounds really good! Really nice smooth full sound on this one. I especially like how the bass drum sounds on A1. Just a warm sound in general on all the instruments/tracks, with lots of clarity. Can confirm the deadwax has RKS.
I think I have about ten from this series now and this is easily the best of the ten. This could for a AAA Jazz Dispensary release.
Some minor qc issues with this one that I can accept. The cover arrived bent. But that could be Amazon’s fault. More notably, the spindle hole was way too small so I had to make it bigger to be able to play it.
I highly recommend picking this up if you’re a fan of Herbie Hancock and/or the Jazz Dispensary series. -
It’s Third Man, so I was skeptical, but it sounds great! Some crackles in the quiet parts but happy overall.
