Edited 4 days agoMore at the noise end than the music end of his range. A real grower. Similar to Prophet but less approachable. Interesting and fairly unique in the catalogue. Side three is the best and he sings on side four. Nice to see mention of the Hinds brothers in the liner notes. Top blokes.
The cover sums it up
"If you're looking for melodies. Structured compositions. Pleasant harmonies. ... Seek elsewhere. -
Edited one month agoI have 2 other albums by Sun Ra, and like them both. But this has got to be the worst album I have ever bought. It sounds like some kid got a new synthesizer for his birthday and then sat in his garage and just pounded on it just to make noise while recording it on his old cassette recorder. There is no rhyme or reason for any of this noise. This is nothing but a RSD money grab, and they got me good.

Quality control for the pressing is fine, but the hiss (especially apparent at the first of each side) leads me to assume a few corners were cut at the mastering phase of production.
