Edited one year agoBoth discs of my copy sound great. No issues to report. If you are debating between this and the gold, the big difference is that the gold has coloured vinyl, an extra 24 page artwork booklet and 2 smaller posters different from the silver edition. IMO the poster in the silver edition is better than the ones from the gold edition. Besides that, this is a quality package with a quality pressing. Shoutout Beach House for making great music and delivering it to the fans in a quality way.

Edited 2 years agoA perfectly flat, quiet and dynamic pressing, cut by Ryan K Smith, as evidenced in the dead wax. Just a note, the title track which leads off side A is purposely compressed and muffled sounding. This becomes abundantly clear once the second cut starts "Superstar." Similar tactic to Wilco's Being There or Sylvan Esso's latest LP. A preparation for the ears, like Frank Lloyd Wright reducing the ceiling height in a foyer to accentuate the height of the main space. A study in contrasts. Just keep listening.

All good here. Hopefully someone took care after many complaints of the pressing? I don’t know but on my system it sounds nice and clean

It's a disappointing press compared to previous beachhouse albums. It's like a used record with scratches on the surface, and as others have said, the second vinyl has a lot of noise.
-
Terrible mastering/pressing of a very good album. My 24-bit of this album from Qobuz sounds much better.

Beautiful album, but this pressing is particularly dull and flat/un-dynamic. No problems with surface noise etc, but sonically the pressing is a massive let down after living with the digital master. Super squashed (but weirdly quiet), and nowhere near as open in the top end as it should be. Such a shame.

Mastering sounds quite boring - the digital version is way more open and dynamic tbh…and the pressing quality leaves also some room for improvement: First copy both discs heavily warped and hairlines all over. Second copy quite clean but still a bit wobbly on the platter. I will keep it, but I am truly not impressed by this release (on Vinyl).

Edited 3 years agoFavorite Beach House album. Emotionally, just hits the spot. I also appreciate the artwork - poster, inner sleeves, and the jacket (even the inside of the jacket has a cool pattern!)
As far as the pressing, the tracks on the outer edges are slightly noisy, and the discs came a bit dirty. Hearing significant surface noise on all of disc 2. Was also disappointed by how brickwalled C2 sounds. So far sides C and D are noisy enough to warrant a return, which is a bummer, seems like a typical thing for this record pressing.
