Mine has an HMV Import sticker with another import licensing sticker under that. On the back cover it has the 7464-35331-1 barcode in the top right corner but at the bottom has in print the encircled C with Riviera Global Productions Limited encircled P 1978 Riviera etc but then has manufactured by with tiny rectangular stickers placed over the rest of the text to blank it out apart from 52nd Street, NY, N.Y then more black stickers blotting out what comes after this. As it came with those stickers when I bought it probably twenty five years ago I feel disinclined to remove them.

I've shot this out against the MoFi 2010 and the UMe 2021 reissue (EU) and this (the 1978 Porky Prime Cut) wins out by a fair margin.
The MoFi has a ton of detail and does sound more spacious with improved separation. But it's cut way too quiet and does not make use of that additional headroom for added dynamics. It just sounds neutered.
The 2021 sounds (on my system and to my ears) somewhat compressed and - ultimately - flat, and with little to recommend it over either the MoFi or the '78.
Which brings me to the '78: this is how this record should sound - tight, focused, punchy, spikey even, with a shed load of dynamics. The bottom end on this isn't as defined as the MoFi - but there it is too polite, and here it properly rocks.
The '78 Porky Prime is the recommended way to go, imo. But the jacket on the MoFi is nice (which isn't always the case with MoFis). -
Now here`s something cool, instead of the etching saying `PORKY PRIMY CUT` on side 1 of my copy, it says:
`SPECIAL PRESSING NO. 003 RING 434 32 32 ASK FOR MOIRA FOR YOUR PRIZE :)`
Anyone in the UK feel like trying the number? I bought this used in Australia, I hope the original owner noticed the etching too! :D -

Edited 14 years agoThe sleeve of my copy looks like the image of this submission.
It looks somewhat misprinted, or is this intended?
