it aint bad sounding at all for a bootleg, actually sounds better than some official pressings from some other bands. It sounds better than that @$$ picture pressing we all know about. Definitely give it a sonic wash, theres some factory shmutz that was causing pops and what not, will noticeably be better after a sonic cleaning

perfect sound, perfect atwork, the best copy currently available in the world -
Edited 3 years agoAnyone thinking this Red version sounds good let alone "excellent" has clearly never heard the far superior sounding version, the one that doesn't have this badly executed "alternative cover art". The difference is truly staggering. If the often falsely used term "pressed from CD" applies anywhere it definitely does here. Although I doubt a CD was actually used for this one. This pressing sounds so compressed and harsh it might have actually been pressed from mp3's...
Get this and hear the difference for yourself:

There's a reason this gatefold version with the real cover art tends to go for more money than this one.. and the reason is definitely not because of the cover. It is also the best sounding bootleg I have ever heard but that is beyond the point really :)

Bought my 2 red LPs for 35 (EUR) last year, both discs sound very neat! Knowing that I was purchasing an unofficial bootleg I must say, I more than satisfied with this purchase. As many of you, I'd love to buy an official copy if there´s any in the future (doubt it).

I wound up one purple and one lavendar LP. Sound is excellent. Very quiet pressing. Label states Promotional Copy. Not For Resale but I bought it in a retail record shop. As for comments about the vocals being too quiet and the bass a bit overpowering - welcome to Tool. That's their sound, even live. Maynard James Keenan likes to remain in the background. Not your typical lead vocalist by a stretch.
