I went through 2, maybe 3 of the 3xLP sets and couldn't find one that sounded clean. Even after heavy duty cleaning, the records still had surface noise. I bought one box of this 5xLP set and each (playable) side was perfect and clean.

Packaging is heavy duty but beware, if you put too much pressure on the spine it will come unstuck.

All these pretentious, negative reviews… Tsk Tsk… think about what these men have just given you. And all you do is bitch?

This is a system demo album for years to come. The press is flawless and so is the RL/BG/CB mastering (and sounds one hell of a lot better than the 3LP pisschrist Jose Serrano wankfest cover edition- don’t be cheap, it’s TOOL). The included artwork? The time and effort that it’s taken to produce this? Where else are you going to get this? This is TOOL. We are adults now and we can afford this wonderful gift to ourselves and our families.

Accept it and be happy to be alive to appreciate and enjoy it. At some of the retail prices this is going for? You bet your sweet ass you better snatch it up. If you don’t? It becomes the Zeppelin road case. It becomes the GNR Appetite box- Gone, unless you have $1000s to spare on such a thing.

Do yourself a favor and pull the trigger on this. You won’t regret it, even slightly.

In an astrophysical sense, there can be no question this edition is "limited." I'm sure if you were to travel to the nearest star (Proxima Centauri -- four light years away), this MIGHT be sold out by the time you got back. That would also be around the time that Danny would get around to greenlighting the ÆNIMA reissue for release. We're talking Tool time, which is a unit of measurement related to spacetime and the formation of stars.

How limited is this edition? I’ve seen it go in & out of stock on Tool’s website and Amazon seems to have no shortage… there have been over 200 copies available on this site. Just curious if there is an official count to the edition?

I got this for only $90 and I am happy with that. FI is one of my favorite metal- albums and was my gateway into Tool. I think it is a masterpiece. This is the definitive edition, and I like the art, box, cover, and etchings (although they could have been a bit more pronounced).

Although a cash grab, it is still a cool box set. If Tool really wanted to make a special box set for FI, they could have forgone the etchings and instead included some live versions of the FI tracks with some photos of the incredible stage show in the book. Oh well, hopefully that happens, one day (probably won't).

Positives- Very nice presentation, amazing sounding pressings, cool artwork

Negatives- Lyrics to 7empest aren't included for some reason, one of the instrumentals is missing (inexcusable considering it is 5- LPs), pressing is a tad quiet (doesn't matter if you have a good system)

It is definitely worth under $100 if you love FI like I do. If you spent the original price, whoops

Got it for $65. Not sure bout everyone else but these pressings are very quiet. Aside from that it sounds great but I wouldnt pay $180. Def recommend the normal vinyl over this

Those ducebags of Tool did release this 5LP Fear Inoculum box with each vinyl etched on side B. I think all the fans who purchased it hate this box. They really ripped us all off, and there is a common understanding among the fanbase that they are first class A-holes. First selling it signed at concerts for 850 euros, then selling it as limited everywhere for at least 159 euros, telling everybody this would be the only vinyl release ever of the album, only to release a "peoples version" on 2,5 LP in a trifold some months later. Those boxes are now sold for 50 euros on Discogs! Worst rip off ever!!! I hope Karma the bitch gets them and they grow old in poverty.
