Probably needs a new entry, just bought this in Feb 2024, it says "Made in the U.S.A." on back jacket

Edited one year agoBeen waiting to find a copy of this for a few years to see if it was better than the 2010 pressing that I got upon release. Delighted to say that it is!
The 2010 LP (the one with runouts containing "BA" - all others are future reissues) has the higher frequencies rounded off so much that it sounds dull and muffled in places. It's most noticeable on Empire Ants: the drop halfway through sounds almost like a home cassette recording, all booming bass and no detail, and the hihat is barely audible instead of driving the track like it should. On this pressing, the hihat is back prominently in the centre of the stereo field and the whole top end has been opened out. It's also noticeable, though less obviously, on the rest of the record, where the highs click and sparkle instead of sounding less alive than the digital version. The packaging is identical except the copyright info. So glad they remastered this!
(I can see a lot of people posting recent reviews on the 2010 UK page, which makes me think there might be some contamination between the listings - the 2010 is very unlikely to be the best sounding record in *anyone's* collection as a few have claimed!) -
Mine also has some sibilance and distortion on some tracks. Additionally, my copy seems to be left heavy. Definitely not the best mastering job.

Fantastic sound. Clear as day and dynamic as hell, this is certainly worth the money. Also the Hunky Dory cover on the second record sleeve was funny to me

This album was one of the first albums I listened to in full when it came out I fell in love with music at this time
-
sound quality is decent, not mindblowing but definitely good enough. bit of surface noise though, but after a wet clean it's not bothersome
-
Edited 3 years agosuperb vinyl in of sound quality ... at least mine doesn't feature any surface noise from start to finish, but I do agree that there is some sibilance, but it doesn't affect the overall experience

Edited 3 years agoMine appears to be the same as this one but with a white 'Made in ' sticker on the back. Great presentation with the artwork which is nice and crisp and a gatefold. Does ship with printed paper inner sleeves but my records fortunately mine didn't come caked in paper shards. Definitely put them in quality inners once you extract them, though, there's enough room to fit them with the printed ones.
Sound quality is just OK, neither great nor terrible. Surface noise is quite low with the exception of a couple of isolated repeated clicks. Biggest issue with mine is sibilance which was present on and off throughout the album. Hard to say if its an issue with my setup but I don't normally encounter it. Otherwise it sounds quite clean and clear, maybe a tad lacking for bass as the other mentioned.
Decent enough if you can find it for a reasonable price.
