Sounds good to me for what it is. Nervy, wiry, cutting, edgy sounds, but clear vocals, kick drum, drums, bass guitar, all sound good to me. I enjoy it. Got a perfect pressing of it here. Sound much edgier and it'd be on the too harsh side for me. Its still ambient. Just not bright or blaring.Love the OG mix. A stew and blend of guitars and keyboards. cheers.

Compared to the other Parlophone reissues, the sound on this one isn't as good. However, it's still nice overall, with very standout vocals and most instrument solos sounding punchy. Good quality record overall, just not as impressive as the others.

I recently bought a copy of this and the sound quality is indeed a bit underwhelming, it sounds muffled compared to the other 180g Bowie re-issues. Surprisingly, my copy also had the 2022 “Official Bowie 75” sticker on, but all other aspects are the same as this listing. As for the album itself, it’s an underrated gem and might just be my personal favorite from the Berlin trilogy.

Bowie ends the 70s with the underwhelming "Lodger". The sound is rather muddy and lifeless - not as good as the other remasters that have been released in the past few years.
-
Edited 4 years agoThe sound is somewhat opaque, it lacks life. I bought it because I have “Low” of this same series of reissues and I thought this one was going to have the same excellent quality of sound, but no. It seems that the Visconti mix is the one to get (but unfortunately it is only included in a box set).

My copy is definitely this pressing, same catalogue number and 180g sticker, but is a gatefold cover. Worthy of a variant?

Edited 5 years agoI don't know if this record is a remaster by Ray Staff or a remix by Tony Visconti and l don't know either if it's the same that's included in the box set. I bought the record individually and all l can say is that it sounds crappy. It's mudded, it's bass heavy, it has no midrange. All in all is a complete dissapointment

This reissue sounds a lot better than Heroes. The bass is more defined and the separation and clarity is more evident. Bowie's vocals are also more up front and more detail can be heard in the music. Nothing sounds muddy, drums are punchy. Decent overall dynamics and range. Happy with this one.
