It's eighties DePalma so you know what to expect from this soundtrack - an intense presence that is a dominant part of the film and not subtle, background music. Strings that even while they are lulling you into calm should also be held with some suspicion and nervousness due to the murder or betrayal that inevitably awaits. This score by Pino Donaggio is part airy, smooth strings that float the listener/filmgoer along, and part tension-building strings that ratchet up the suspense. The strings in "The Shower" glide in the most tranquil and fluid style. In either case they work so effectively, this is perhaps my favorite score of a DePalma film.
