I think Varese Sarabande was a idiot to cover up the main cast on the front cover with a printed large hype sticker. What was choosen for the cd release should have been the lp release too as far as the front cover artwork and the words are concerned.

I think this is one of John Carpenter’s best scores. Ranks with “Assault on Precinct 13” and “The Fog”. Interesting side note: I have a first press on Varese Sarabande. The vinyl is a deep shade of purple when held to the light. If you have the first press, try it for yourself.

with this one ?
https://discogs.sitiosdesbloqueados.info/John-Carpenter-in-association-with-Alan-Howarth-Escape-From-New-York-Original-Motion-Picture-Soundtr/release/211163
they are both Varèse Sarabande STV 81134 and same year , which is better ?

Some copies have silver text on the labels instead of white, all matrix and runout info is the same though.

Edited 9 years agoit was such a great movie whan i saw "escape" first time. after more than 2 decades i discovered step by step more and more. and music here, since 'opening title" it';s a key point for understanding how electronic music was born.
