Free – Fire And Water

The main album was secretly remastered for all 2 disc deluxe editions. Sounds great and is a much better job than the 2001 remaster. The newest 2016 remasters are probably the best overall though. Highly recommend picking those up. They’re still pretty cheap. The others are still good to have for the bonus tracks. The 2018 Japanese remaster I haven’t heard yet so that one might be good too.

I just noticed too about how the title track's ending just stops, like they cut the tape off there. I guess all US A&M copies must have this error?

I agree with the comment below about this pressing being very bass heavy, which ruins the experience. Too bad for an otherwise good pressing.

Nice laminated cover on this copy,which is always nice to see,when comparing it to UK versions.

This is a fantastic record and it’s the best sounding of them all. Just listen to those slow guitar solos and silky smooth baselines. The song stage is very deep and the instruments are well separated.
Just get a clean copy because there are many quiet places. Highly recommended and a must for any fan, WOW!

…oddly, my version of this German pressing has the label for Bob Marley’s ‘Confrontation’ on both sides! It is actually ‘Fire And Water’ and plays very well

Don’t want to be an outlier - but I have to say that I find this pressing to be quite wooden (with very muffled highs).

Pretty good sounding pressing. Very bassy, and like others have said, the kick-drum is very prominent and noticeable.

I am Japanese. Japanese rock music vinyl often sounds bad, but it sounds good for that. It's not just the treble that's good, it's overall good.
