My favorite Jazz Record of all time! Wonderful all the way through, get yourself a copy asap is you love Jazz music! It is Mingus at his best!

This is in my top 10 best sounding records. I can’t believe how good this sounds. Wow!

Throw in all audiophile record adjectives - wide, tall, dynamic, deep, etc. Records like this is why vinyl format is so much more engaging.

Impressively stunning sound for such an affordable record! I'm an avid fan of Charles Mingus and this is some of his best work, so having some pristine audio quality to match is always awesome. I'm not sure if this is the same with all stereo mixes, but the left channel does seem to be favored in this pressing. I'd love to hear a mono and compare.

Same master and cut as the 2019 Acoustic Sounds issue. Thinner stock gatefold, assume EU pressing plant for vinyl. Can't go wrong with either version...peak Mingus ensemble arranging and stellar recording quality... love to find a clean original mono copy...just to hear it...

Mine sounds really good. No click between tracks A1 and 2 as some say below (I will have been lucky). It sounds clean and powerful. Very defined and wide on stage. Then I don't have other versions and I don't know if this is better or worse.

Sounds fantastic through my all-valve set-up. Anything other than black vinyl is goofy, though.

My copy is still sealed but it's definitely after 2001. This has the barcode on the rear cover sticker as listed in the notes. This pressing has the Speakers Corner info sticker on the shrink, but it also has one of those weird little phone codes. Don't know if this deserves a separate listing and I don't plan on opening it right now to any Matrix info Etc. Everything else I own on Speakers Corner is absolutely superb so I'm assuming this will be too even if it's a later Edition. The five stars is for the music, have the remastered CD and a '70s vinyl pressing, and this is a stone classic.

Ive compared and analyzed B1 of the 33 and 45 closely.
They are pretty similar sounding, the 33 just has a slight boost in the upper mids and is a bit more spread in the stereo at times, while also panning things like the guitar less, leaving it in the center.
Theres no excessive brightness or detail added, its just that the 33 is cut louder which is likely what is throwing some people off.
There will be less IGD for most on the 45, on the other hand the 33 is pressed much quieter in general.
My pick is the 33 because the mastering is more realistic and revealing I feel, plus less flipping is better. Id only go for the 45 if I wanted to avoid any IGD at all costs.
