George Benson – Give Me The Night

I have had several copies of this album over the years and I would not consider all the songs on the album to be disco. Moody's mood for love a JAZZ BALLAD!

Sounds great. Nice pressing!. The Japanese editions of that time were certainly superior.

I don't like the pressing. The vocals are too forward and on Give Me The Night the voice sounds caged, as if recorded with a poor quality microphone. The midrange is turned up too high. I think you'd be better off buying a US pressing of this.

Now this is how to sell records without selling out. Immaculate soul, funk and disco inflected tracks that have musical chops and sophisticated grooves that you'd expect from one of the great jazz guitarists. The title track reminds me of Al Jarreau's finest moments. Benson shows great vocal dexterity from playful scats to sensuous honey-dipped soul numbers. The production is delivered by the very best - Quincy Jones and with songwriter Rod Temperton on the case this is an album that delivers on its all-star promise.

Nice recording. Some fantastic names/artists on this album. Playing after a couple of decades not hearing it. Enjoying it.

Although this isn't an audiophile record, this is a high-quality sounding pressing that is VERY enjoyable to listening to. It is produced by Quincy Jones, with songwriting credits to Rod Temperton and brilliantly engineered by Bruce Swedien. This pressing sounds punchy, dynamic with wonderful separation in the instrumentation. This pressing is just fun to listen to with a full sounding EQ. This is a fantastic jazz-pop album with spectacular musicianship. Pick up a copy and enjoy!

This is absolutely demo quality. $5.99 at my local record store. Definitely look for the KENDUN. They had 6 copies but only one with the KENDUN stamp.
