Just finished listening. Throughout eight, nine rounds at very beginning it pops a lot. A side sound is very nice, several silent pops and clicks occur, but unusually high gain. B side started well, even Jennifer ed without worrying pops and clicks. This side sounds better than A. But also very high gain. Like one I never have heard before. Incredibly high.
Generally, I'm not satisfied with the Eurythmics reissues. I bought In the garden, which plays with 'steak roasting' almost all over the record. Only Be yourself tonight sounds very, very good.

I disagree with the comment telling that "Sweet Dreams" is the best piece "and the entire rest of the album is very boring. To me it's actually the opposite." [sic] "Sweet Dreams" is an amazing track but it has been played so much anywhere that if you've been through the decades it's all these elusive ethereal electronic which end-up being gems to listen to. Of course in this age of low attention span and hyper-fast music consumption, one must be willing to take actually listen to it.
In addition to the ethereal compositions, the other works align with the style of The British Electric Foundation, as they began to incorporate contemporary electronic devices to create soul music.
One of my all time favorite piece is on this album, and no, it's not "Sweet Dreams".

This early version sounds much better than the 2005 remastered version!

Back in the 80s the story was they did some of the sound with a BBC micro. That was super cool back then. 40 years later and this is the most bizarrely/badly produced album I've heard. I guess there's a reason the drums don't sound like drums.
That said it defines an area of the evolution of music plus "Love is a Stranger" is my fave Eurythmics track even if it sounds like Annie Lennox is standing 2 miles away.

BUYER BEWARE: My copy of this release has started to 'pinhole'.
My advice is to rip your copy of this release asap, before the
pinholes increase & become problematic during playback of the CD.

This digital remaster sounds great. The soundstage is very wide and deep, making speakers nearly disappear. This can be played very loud since there's no ear daggers or boomy bass to contend with.

Just timeless! Has aged well and after many years, I still find myself playing it quite often. I enjoy Eurythmics entire catalogue, but something about this one just stays with you. Many memories with this as a soundtrack. I wish all of the b-sides from this era were remastered and put out in all of their glory!!! Good candidate for a deluxe reissue with more bonus material. Not everything was added in 2005 to those remasters.

Low output but can be cranked and needs to be to sound good.

Legendary Pop-Electronic Album from the early 80s. Annie's voice here shines more than ever.

I have both a 1983 UK what 1st press, bought sealed a few years back, along with the 2018 remaster, again, sealed. The differences i can see are that the 2018 version is more dulled down than the original, as the 1983 recording is quite bright, even on digital versions. There are areas of sibilance, harmonic distortion in places, however i genuinely believe this is due to how the abum was mastered/recorded.

In interviews by both annie and dave, it was recorded using a 4track method, meaning multiple instruments were recorded on one side of tape. Its also worth noting that some of the equipment they used, mainly the drum machines didn’t work the way they were designed to, which might add a slight LO-FI quality to the album.

I’ve heard good reviews of the 1983 German press (PL 25447), which may have been a lucky master. This doesn’t really detract anything for me, as the album came out right in the advent of the CD, meaning some labels were investing less money in LP manufacturing. I’m a huge fan of Eurythmics, sometimes their albums are more complex than good Vs bad pressings.
