I disagree with the comment telling that "Sweet Dreams" is the best piece "and the entire rest of the album is very boring. To me it's actually the opposite." [sic] "Sweet Dreams" is an amazing track but it has been played so much anywhere that if you've been through the decades it's all these elusive ethereal electronic which end-up being gems to listen to. Of course in this age of low attention span and hyper-fast music consumption, one must be willing to take actually listen to it.
In addition to the ethereal compositions, the other works align with the style of The British Electric Foundation, as they began to incorporate contemporary electronic devices to create soul music.
One of my all time favorite piece is on this album, and no, it's not "Sweet Dreams".

Back in the 80s the story was they did some of the sound with a BBC micro. That was super cool back then. 40 years later and this is the most bizarrely/badly produced album I've heard. I guess there's a reason the drums don't sound like drums.
That said it defines an area of the evolution of music plus "Love is a Stranger" is my fave Eurythmics track even if it sounds like Annie Lennox is standing 2 miles away.

Just timeless! Has aged well and after many years, I still find myself playing it quite often. I enjoy Eurythmics entire catalogue, but something about this one just stays with you. Many memories with this as a soundtrack. I wish all of the b-sides from this era were remastered and put out in all of their glory!!! Good candidate for a deluxe reissue with more bonus material. Not everything was added in 2005 to those remasters.

I have both a 1983 UK what 1st press, bought sealed a few years back, along with the 2018 remaster, again, sealed. The differences i can see are that the 2018 version is more dulled down than the original, as the 1983 recording is quite bright, even on digital versions. There are areas of sibilance, harmonic distortion in places, however i genuinely believe this is due to how the abum was mastered/recorded.

In interviews by both annie and dave, it was recorded using a 4track method, meaning multiple instruments were recorded on one side of tape. Its also worth noting that some of the equipment they used, mainly the drum machines didn’t work the way they were designed to, which might add a slight LO-FI quality to the album.

I’ve heard good reviews of the 1983 German press (PL 25447), which may have been a lucky master. This doesn’t really detract anything for me, as the album came out right in the advent of the CD, meaning some labels were investing less money in LP manufacturing. I’m a huge fan of Eurythmics, sometimes their albums are more complex than good Vs bad pressings.

          Equipment - Technics SL-1400MK2, ATVM95SH, Sony TA-FB940R, Klipsch Speakers.

I was 9 when this album came out. It sounded amazing and like nothing I’d heard before. Sophisticated compared to the Buck’s Fizz/Shakin Stevens etc of the time. It intrigued me and I’ve loved it ever since. The layers of music, general soundscape and production makes it far from boring for me. I prefer listening to the original release compared to the 2018 remasters. When you love and know an album inside out it’s difficult to hear it differently. Somebody told me stands out in particular between versions

I just discovered that B5 This City Never Sleeps has a funny bit at the end when the train sound fades out it then fades back in the form of a distant train and then when that ends you hear a mans voice( D. A. Stewart)? talking in reverse.which if you play backwards in an audio editor he says.I ENJOYED MAKING THAT ER RECORD,REALLY GOOD,REALLY GOOD.

I found a super clean early copy of this record.
"Sweet Dreams" is a huge hit and landmark synth-pop release by Eurythmics.

Unfortunately, the entire rest of the album is very boring. I was disappointed with all of side A, and most of side B.

Pressing is good. Sorry Eurythmics I'm going to on this one.

I swear I once owned a Canadian or US pressing on the 70's orange RCA label. I think it may have been an obscure copy from a plant that used up old labels.

I have quite a lot of the Eurythmics L.P'S on vinyl and this is definitely my favorite L.P of these. The keyboards by D. A. Stewart on this L.P are his best work he has ever done and along with A. Lennox vocals makes it such a great and outstanding Album for the period of time.

                    Peace G Beats.
