Cleaning a record should be normal practice by everyone in the hobby. Folks think they can drop a needle on a record these days fresh outta the shrink. Times have changed and you must thoroughly clean them first before you critique.

I've gotten three Copies of this Album and all of them had Issues. One was a Factory Defect and had terrible surface noise on side B, the Next Copy sounded very good but was slightly warped, and The Latest Copy Sounds so Flat and has constant surface noise during all 4 sides. Even after a clean. Did anyone else experience similar issues? Other than that this album is incredible.

I bought a US copy, and it was a disaster: the records were scratched, dirty, and the listening experience was extremely unpleasant, with crackling noises from start to finish on all four sides.

I gave in and bought the European pressing. Even though it’s not perfectly silent, the listening experience is enjoyable. I wholeheartedly recommend this pressing, having tested both versions.

I nearly didn’t buy this after reading poor reviews about the quality, but mine is perfect, couldn’t be better.

My US copy of this album plays perfectly. Imo, this was peak Floyd. After this it was mostly downhill.

Fun fact: MCMLXXII* is the Roman numeral representation for the year 1972.
Incorrect title if recorded in the Roman Amphitheatre at Pompeii, 4-7 October 1971 ?

*It combines the values of M (1000), CM (900), L (50), X (10), and II (2) to total 1972.

Mine sounds great for the most part after a good cleaning. Some ticks and pops here and there that won’t go away but not too bad. Both records are slightly dished. Not enough to return. I’m honestly tired of 180 gram double records. Just give me regular good sounding single Lp’s. The thicker records suffer from warping and issues far too often. I have records from the 70’s that are thin and flimsy but sound absolutely incredible! The extra thickness is nothing but an extra hassle

Purchase the new Steven Wilson remix official. Far superior.

So far sounds quite good, better than my 80's bootleg. Great packaging, A+ for the gorgeous poster
