Jethro Tull – Heavy Horses

Best song writing of all the Tull LP’s. Recording quality is average. A Steven Wilson remaster would make it a must own.

Nice and crisp sounding recording. Lows might be a bit lacking, but mids and highs are well defined. Has a distinctly English sound to it. I don't know what specifically is done, but very different from records cut in American studios. And it's not just because Tull is an English band.

A little bit muddy sounding. Too much low end (but not in the "punchy" way) for my taste.

This and three other Jethro Tull albums are being re pressed and are able to pre order at Burning Shed. Get them before they go OOP again!

Silky eq, astounding separation in the mix, punchy bass and mids, but most of that was already in the original recipe of the tracking and mixing, Wilson just polishes (as do all great sound mixers) and puts forward the best available option with equally astute mastering. Very glad to own this one.

I concur with the previous reviews. Glorious pressing. I played this to death when I was working in Saudi…a quintessentially and heart-rendingly English album for the Englishman in faraway lands.

Here you will find two historical works by Jethro Tull (and more...): in addition to a well-sounding remix by Steven Wilson, this box set contains, on CDs 2 and 3, the 1978 Bern concert, already released as Bursting Out, now remixed by Jakko Jakszyk, who gave new life to those dusty recordings.
IMHO the best versions of both albums! Gentlemen, when you rely on sound specialists and music lovers like Steven and Jakko, the result is guaranteed!
The collection is completed by some interesting rarities and DVD Audio editions, a format that unfortunately has not caught on enough.
I think the remixed vinyl sounds just as good, but it was only released as a single edition of Heavy Horses, so this edition is the one to choose.
Unfortunately the box has become a collector's item and cannot be found below €100.
