Madonna – Hung Up

Have a copy of this with no matrix no's on the runout grooves on either side.
Just catag my collection and this is the first time i have seen this.

In comparison to the UK one, this release has a glossy cover while the UK cover is matte.

Stuart Price is a god. A2 will melt faces and drop panties on any dancefloor.

Certainly one of the best pop songs of the noughties.

This is actually official. I got mine direct from a Warner rep in 2005. It wa sissies as a ringtone to cross promote Motorola (she did the advert) and the single.

The last GREAT Madonna single. Everything after this is dodgy....

I first heard this dub being played by Stuart himself in June 2005 (Culture Club, Ghent). Didn't really know at that time that this was going to be the new Madonna song because it was all instrumental. But the crowd went mad on an Abba song so that was really a surpise. Anyway, that night he played a lot of promos like Missy Elliot and The Killers but I didn't see his version of 'Sweet Dreams' (Eurythmics) come out yet so watch out !

The Stuart Price mixes of "Hung Up" will be on top of the best tracks I've heard this year. Simply majestic. It's all in that ABBA sample, the filters, the depth. The concept of the existing corrolation between a phone call and a relationship is great. Two thumbs up! The other mixes are just boring, apart maybe for the Chus & Ceballos version, in which they kept the sample. But anyhow, I feel it's not as strong as the extended mix or dub.

Hands down, the biggest dance track of '05; the fact that it's by Madonna is probably of no consequence either; the biggest irony here is that it's the Abba sample and the electrolicious galloping bassline that steal the show. Madonna herself finally puts herself to good use and shows us that that she still has a few aces up her sleeve by delivering some superb vocals; the lyrical subject matter is old-fashioned, but hey, this whole track is a nod to the days when discohopping was still considered decadent. On absolute first listen, I thought she was trying to emulate the recent Kylie Minogue sound (boy, times have changed) but it's clearly evident that Madonna has hung her own distinctive label on this. While the odds against Madonna not being able to pull herself back together after some dodgy efforts at 007 theme songs and political commentaries were high, 'Hung Up' and more importantly 'Confessions On A Dancefloor' truely prove it's extremely dangerous to underestimate a force like Madonna. Welcome back, Queen of Pop. 10/10
