It’s amazing how airy and open this version is, even being 37 years old. It takes me back to high school, in a good way.

Just put this on...I have similar experience as many. The wax is a flat slab, virtually no surface, nice separation / stage / width, and it sounds damn good (it begs you to crank it up) on my modest system...

              (Fluance RT-82 w/Acrylic Platter, ATN-XP cart/5 stylus. Nobsound T3 Phono Amp, Aiyima A07 Pro, Kicker KB6B, & 2x Polk PSW10 Subs...Simple Low Cost Setup)...Happy Listening

Jane’s Addiction’s Nothing’s Shocking remains a seminal work in the alt-rock canon, and the 2009 Record Store Day 180-gram vinyl reissue truly brings this classic to life. From the moment the needle drops, the rich, dynamic sound envelops you, enhancing every riff and lyric.

The production on this pressing is stellar, showcasing the band’s eclectic mix of hard rock, punk, and psychedelic influences. Perry Farrell's distinctive vocals are front and center, and the lush instrumentation—from Dave Navarro's searing guitar solos to Eric Avery's intricate bass lines—shines through with clarity and depth.

Tracks like “Mountain Song” and “Jane Says” are delivered with a raw energy that feels both nostalgic and invigorating. This reissue captures the album's essence, allowing both longtime fans and newcomers to experience the groundbreaking sound that shaped the ‘90s alternative scene.

Overall, I’m thrilled with this purchase. The quality of the vinyl, combined with the iconic nature of the album, makes this a must-have for any serious collector. Whether you’re revisiting the classics or discovering them anew, Nothing’s Shocking on vinyl is an unforgettable experience.

Another unreal-sounding Cinram pressing mastered by Smokin' Joe Webster. This sumbitch hits hard & sounds HUGE.

My copy of the gold embossed promo does not have the round language warning sticker on the cover. I was working at a record shop when I got my hands on the promo and was absolutely blown away by the album. Masterpiece.

Hmm, I'm going to respectfully disagree with the post below. I don't know how much difference it makes that mine is a promo but the sound is massive - it is a big sounding and loud record. Sound stage is wide and full with great separation of instruments and great, detailed, but still musical sound. That said, it isn't pefect and while it sounds fantastic at around 88-90 DBs, in the busier parts of most songs, if the DBs are 90-94+, it starts to blare quite a bit and becomes a blur. It is quite damn loud at 88 DBs though. The loudest 88 DBs I can .
This is one of my favorite albums and although I'm hoping that Kevin Gray will have his turn with this with RHF, if not, I'll be very happy with this one.
