This sounds great. I just got a beautiful copy with the shrink. Thanks to the people who took great care of this vinyl. When I heard the first note I could tell it was a great mastered vinyl. It works well with the music for sure. I don’t think I’ve gotten a bad 90’s first pressing yet. I heard people say quality dropped but my AiC, Marilyn Manson, NiN, and 2pac first pressings sound amazing. Maybe there were some bad ones but luckily it didn’t affect many of the bands I like. In the end tho, it’s all about having fun and enjoying music to the most of its potential. Happy hunting everyone!

It's a solid 90s rock pressing with a punchy midrange especially in the bass and guitars, which initially made me think it outperformed the Chris Bellman mastered reissue.
However after a close comparison it really lacks the soundstage, depth, and power which is most noticable in the drums.
I ended up selling this original and kept the CB 2LP which, in my opinion, better captures the full potential of the recordings. -
Wow this blows my speakers! Great mastering for this type of music. Bass is thumping, searing guitars! Really notice the difference putting this on after other records which I thought sounded good. Next level!

This original is by far the best sounding version. I also own the Bellman cut double lp and the original CD and neither comes close to this pressing. This record was cut hot so it’s very loud and the dynamic range is massive. It is particularly impressive to hear the huge soundstage and clarity of all the instruments considering side 2 is 500 hours long. I bought the album sealed so I wasn’t sure if I was getting the original or the ‘94 repress. I got lucky that is was indeed the original.

Edited one year agoWhile I don’t have any other pressing of this album to compare to since I found the OG US pressing first, I have to say this really sounds great for it being on a single disc.
Plus since this is all crammed on a single disc, “Been Caught Stealing” is at the very end of Side 1 and is a good test track to check for cartridge sibilance. Perry’s voice does sound a bit more compressed and a bit sibilant by default compared to the rest of the side, so compare with a CD or digital file and adjust your tracking and antiskate if it sounds a bit hot in the sibilance department. -
Just gave this a spin for the first time in awhile. Absolute gem. So well mastered. Listening perfection!

Edited 3 years agoSo far, none of the reissues can touch this first press even at a half. Airy, vital, loud. The bass sounds incomparable even to german first press. I haven't heard the BG 2020 press which has great reviews. Just my opinion.
