Edited 23 days agoBrilliant sounding for a picture disc and very well made, but the inner protective sleeve is PVC, and you can smell the plasticiser off-gassing as soon as you open it, which will fog and destroy the grooves on the record over time. I’ve replaced it with a clear polyethylene inner. Considering all the well documented issues around this (two records in my collection were damaged this way before I knew better), why manufacturers are still using PVC sleeves, particularly for picture discs is beyond me. -
This pressing sounds fantastic.. Drums and bass are punchy, vocals floating, guitars and organ causing my medulla oblongata to vibrate

For many years, the Charlatans were perceived as the also-rans of Madchester, the group that didn't capture the zeitgeist like the Stone Roses or the band that failed to match the mad genre-bending of the Happy Mondays. Of course, they were more traditional than either of their peers. Working from a Stonesy foundation, the Charlatans added dance-oriented rhythms and layers of swirling organs straight out of '60s psychedelia.
