What a clean and crisp pressing for a 42 year old album. It’s simple pop music but sometimes that’s good for the soul.

Well, sounds a great record to me. Solid low end, really tight middle range and a controlled even high end. Punchy in the mid range really. Lot of impact there. Fantastic deluxe pub rock sound. Impressive. Very nice. Can't help but think that the album is missing at least 1 more, maybe 2, big hit numbers. If This Is It, yeah, great track but it's basically on its own as a big hit song. Opening track is probably my next fav on the album. Fore had Stuck With You and Hip To Be Square...and I think the international version even included The Power of Love...so that's 3 big hits. I dunno, maybe there's another version of Sports I don't know about. Anyway, good music and this is their highest selling album I think, so what do I know?

A rare miss by Chris Bellman. Surprisingly, my biggest complaint is with the bass, which he usually nails. Here it is too bloated, which ends up overriding the mids. I was likewise hoping for a better mastering that a 40th Anniversary release deserves.

Remaster is typically Bellman - a little too bright. Pressing is noisy - typically GZ Media. Insert too thin and scratches the vinyl on removal. For a 40th Anniversary edition, it really doesn’t tick all the right boxes.

Great ‘80album on exceptional OG press. Sound is a bit thin as you would expect from recording around this era though.

Don’t hesitate to find a good copy, if you’re into ‘80 music

I am little dissappointed in this series. I love the Japanese focus on details, these reissues are very well done as far as reproduction artwork and print quality are concerned. BUT this is another missed chance to offer more than just a remastered version of the album and a couple of bonus tracks that most hardcore fans already have, mostly in the same quality. Nice would have been: some additional photos from the various photographers of these albums and eras like Rappoport, McDonald, Ressmeyer, Hall, linernotes and real bonus tracks like demos, more outtakes... you get the picture. A lot of money for basically nothing. The look great, though.

Cheap 80's heat. Bob Clearmountain mastering is unreal; Walking On A Thin Line's synth intro just cuts through your chest and then the drums a reminder this is a hot cut. Sibilance never arrives regardless of how dynamic any one age may be. Found a $5.99 NM copy of this pressing at my local Slackers and stunned at how good this sounds.

Vinyl done right. This is a fantastic sounding pressing with a nice clear and balanced sound. It runs circles around the later remastered CD.
