Spanish recording studio based in Ibiza active since 1980 to 1983, later renamed as Ibiza Sound Studios:
The studios were founded in 1980 by the German businessman Fritz Ehrentraut at the Can Marià Blai farm, in the town of Sant Llorenç, inside the island of Ibiza and had exceptional equipment for the time, with an MCI console of 56 channels, with 48 simultaneous recording, something that very few studios possessed. The facilities were completed with suits for the accommodation of musicians, tennis court, squash and swimming pool. Despite the initial success of the project, the great investment made and the bohemian lifestyle of its owner, led to bankruptcy studies in 1983. Given this situation, Judas Priest drummer Dave Holland, along with other partners, took over the debts and acquired the Studios.
Some bands who recorded: Judas Priest, New Order, The Boomtown Rats, Stephan Micus or the Japanese Sandii & The Sunsetz
Estudios Mediterráneo:
In 1984 a new stage begins for studies under the artistic direction of Spanish disc-jockey Vicente Romero "Mariscal" and the technical direction of the American engineer and musician Dennis Herman. During the second half of the 80s, bands of Spanish rock bands such as Obús, Medina Azahara, Loquillo y los Trogloditas, La Frontera, Revolver, Barricade, Mermalada, Sangre Azul, Ángeles del Infierno, Panzer, La Torre, Ñu, Santa or Banzai, as well as the Argentine bands Los Twist and Los Abuelos out of nowhere, they went through the Mediterranean Studios to record their albums. The musicians spent long periods in the farmhouse and even brought the family. There were suits for musicians and a wing with more modest rooms for guests, press or technicians.
But not only national artists used the facilities. Holland's participation attracted international bands such as FM, which in 1986 recorded their album "Indiscreet." Also the German Nina Hagen and Nena, Queen's drummer, Roger Taylor with his band, The Cross, Hubert Kah, Frankie Goes To Hollywood or The Flaming Mussolinis were seduced by the combination of the Ibizencan nightlife and the tranquility offered by the study facilities to carry out their work.
On the night of February 7, 1990, however, there was a fire that completely destroyed the farmhouse and all its facilities . This event occurred on the eve of renewing the study to adapt it to the digital era, but finally the project was frustrated.
