Brief history:
1948: Founded as Jambo by East African Sound Studios Ltd., also operating a recording studio.
1952: Renaming to East African Records Ltd. and opening of a record pressing plant (shellac) in Nairobi.
1963: The label and recording studio are transferred to label Equator Sound, while E. A. Records, now a record pressing plant only, is sold to Phonogram (PolyGram).
1976: Only record pressing plant in East Africa.
