Automatic Cancellation Policy: Orders will be cancelled if payment is not received within 4 days.
1). Buyer pays shipping:
Shipping charge showing (currently £5.25) is for Tracked24.
7"45 and CD sent standard letter post in stiffened mailer.
10" & 12" UK sent Tracked24 or 48 in professional stiffened mailer.
10" & 12" worldwide sent International Tracked in professional stiffened mailer.
If you need a different service, please let me know before paying.
I try to despatch the order within 24 hours of getting paid.
2). When you order an item, you have 4 (four) days in which to pay for it.
If you need more time to get the payment together, let me know.
Please pay when you place the order if you can.
3). I will listen to any reasonable offers on all of my items for sale, even if there is no active "make an offer" button. Just send me a message telling what what you are are offering. I will respond. In my mind, a reasonable offer is one within 10% of the listed price. My items are carefully priced and price checked before being listed. £22.50 on a £25 item is reasonable. £15 on a £25 item is equivalent to a 40% discount, which is unreasonable. Offering 20% of the listed price with a note saying "I’d love to buy this item but I cannot afford it" is also unreasonable. My response to that one is "I tried that in the Porsche car shop and guess what car I now drive".
4). Vinyl is graded visually unless otherwise stated. All vinyl grading from any seller is subjective. What is NM to one person can be VG to someone else. I try and be as accurate as possible, but, being human, I occasionally make a mistake.
In the rare event that this happens I request that you me and i will work something out.
I only grade items as Mint if they are factory sealed shrink wrapped. This sometimes means that items other sellers would mark Mint are marked NM by me.
Many items are better than VG+ grade, but have been given that grade as I have not yet been able to audio check them. Some of these titles have been in my collection for a very long time and although my memory thinks they are all minty, the reality is that some of them are not. I try and aim to be conservative.
I once paid a lot of money for an album graded "NM". When it arrived, it was not this grade, it was VG. It was a new seller. I ed them and told them my opinion. They replied, "I thought it was very good". Which it is, but they graded it NM. I try not to do this.
I do not use M (Mint) unless the item is factory sealed. If I think it is VG I grade it VG, but I am dealing with vintage vinyl, some of it is more than fifty years old. Some of it is also Jamaican reggae, which is notoriously hard to grade.
If you want to be certain of getting music with no surface noise, I suggest you buy a CD. But, to quote the late great John Peel: "somebody was trying to tell me that CDs are better than vinyl because they don't have any surface noise. I said, 'listen, mate, life has surface noise."
I try and audio check titles before I mail them, particularly the vintage reggae and rock. I will message you if I think the item has been over graded. If you ask before you buy, I will audio check a title that you are interested in and send you an audio report &/or a link to a 320 kbps mp3 of the actual item.
If you are buying vintage Jamaican reggae records, please refer to this excellent article about the potential difficulties you may experience with these releases before you buy, thanks -

5). I have recently had a couple of problems on overseas mail outs involving mailers being left outside in the rain and getting damaged. I can wrap the cardboard 12 inch mailers in waterproof materials if you need this, but I do not do this as a matter of course. If you need this service you will have to inform me as soon as possible, ideally at the time that you pay for your purchase.
I try and turn around orders as quickly as possible, my personal best is half an hour - that is half an hour between receiving payment and the item being in the postal system. As a result of this, the onus is on you, the buyer, to inform me if you need any special packaging due to the weather in your area or anything else. Thanks.
6). I use as a check that the buyer is happy with the transaction – ie I do not leave until I have received , that way I know the buyer is happy (or not).
7). I no longer use "signed for".
I have recently amended my postage rates for overseas.
Rates shown are for Royal Mail "International Tracked" for items valued up to £250. Royal Mail cost + 9% Discogs fee.
I think charging fees on postage is an odious policy, but Discogs are currently doing this, so I am afraid that I am having to this charge on.
This service provides door to door tracking information, but does not require a signature on delivery.
If you need a signature on delivery please let me know as "International Signed" is a more expensive option. For example - to Australia, International Tracked for an LP weighing 400 grams = £15.85, International Signed (the same item) = £19.05
Similarly in the UK, if you still want or need a signature on delivery - please let me know or add £1.05 to the cost of the postage.
In the UK items under £10.00 value are sent Tracked48 or second class post depending on size.
I use Royal Mail collect.
This means that orders that are paid before 9pm will be collected next day.
ie - paid at 9pm Monday, collected Tuesday, delivered Wednesday (or Thursday depending on service).
This is assuming that there is a normal service operating (no Bank Holidays or active postal strikes occurring)
I send tracking details of the item when collection has been ordered, however i am not responsible for the delivery. I have no control over any mail system anywhere and cannot make any guarantees or influence when your order is actually delivered once it is in the postal system.
The same thing is true for customs duty; whilst I can mark customs docs "tax and duty paid" if requested, I have no control over what happens at the borders and I have no liability if customs decide to charge twice, which they are prone to do sometimes.
I rarely go to the post office, so all of the paperwork I use is automated by Discogs and Royal Mail. Consequently i cannot produce "fake" documents that under-state the value of the goods. I am sometimes asked to do this on overseas sales and the answer to the request is - I cannot produce fake documents even if i wanted to, which I don't.
The fact is that since Brexit, duties and other charges apply. I do not agree with this, I think Brexit is the dumbest thing the UK has ever done, but there it is. Until that situation changes, the taxes and fees on overseas sales are what they are.
If you want to buy more than one item, I will merge your order into one invoice, which will save you postage costs.
The Royal Mail has a maximum weight on a parcel of 2 kilo before the price breaks.
Some sellers charge per item, but this policy is not the Royal Mail's policy, which is based on parcel size and weight, not on how many items are in a package. This is true of all couriers that I use.
A 12inch vinyl record usually weighs 120 to 180 grams, depending on what weight the label chose when the music first went to press, the weight of the card that the covers are printed on is another factor to consider.
180 gram vinyl is often called "heavyweight vinyl".
It is safe to assume one vinyl 12inch LP + mailer = 400g, ie 4 = 1.6 kilo,
4 items cost the same as one to post.
If you do want more than one item, please do not pay until you have received a merged invoice.
If the order weighs more than 2kg another price break kicks in.
If you want to get your own estimate of the actual postage cost you can get one from https://send.royalmail.com
In of standard UK service, I am posting everything of 12 inch size with a value over £10 by Tracked24.
On orders with a value of less than £10, I usually charge Tracked24 price and send by Tracked48.
The tracked service should email you notifications with updates on the progress of your delivery.
This does not apply to 7 inch items as these will go through a standard letter box.
If you want tracked and signed for a 7 inch, please add £1 to the postage costs.
8). In reference to returns.
PayPal’s policy is that the buyer pays the cost of returning an item. I use this policy.
I will accept returns for faulty goods, though these are very rare. This does not mean that I will accept returns for items bought in error. If I do, it is at my discretion. I will also deduct the fees that I have been charged from the returns payment, meaning the return payment will be lower than the original payment made.
As i have been conned in the past, I will not send a return payment until i have received the item back into my possession and I have had the time to audio check it. Depending on my workload, this may take a week to ten days.
Thanks for looking and taking an interest in my tunes. Be good to music and music will be good to you.
