What a great record, the basic recording makes you feel like your in the same room as the band. It's punk with a groove, the songs are not particularly fast but still have urgency. This record is a masterpiece. The boys hooks and chops are on full display. The last track on the album, Don't Mess me Around is a jaunty, rollicking jam with with no beginning or ending that you can listen to forever.
The strip down production reminds me of the first Ramones record, both records stand alone sound wise with the crudeness sounding refreshing. The difference is that the Ramones sound like that they concentrating really hard to play the songs properly. (To good affect). The Buzzcocks sound more confident and I picture them with guitars slung low letting it fly. -
Great album. I would have creamed myself if I’d had this back in 1977 ! It’s amazing to have this in my collection now, and sounding so good ! 10/10. B’dum B’dum.
