Notes
Textured outer sleeve.
Printed inner sleeve with rounded corners.
Labels have a "double dip" with the elevated ring close to the runouts and the vinyl is translucent red when held against a strong light, both characteristic for Tranco pressings.
Note this version has runouts according printed labels and sleeve.
Side A is OUTSIDE (black label). Side B is INSIDE (white label).
But, to add some confusion, the metalworker, assigned "Outside" to B and "Inside" to A in the runouts. Nevertheless the runouts reflect the actual track order.
Back cover:
FACT 10 · A Factory Records Product.
Printed and made in Great Britain by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd.
Inner:

Sound is incredible. Punchy, spacious, great separation of instruments and sounds just like I would imagine but better.

I have what appears to be the Tranco pressing (ruby red vinyl, matrix info matches up, raised ring close to the runouts, etc). However, the inner sleeve has square corners (not rounded).

Edited 3 years agoMmmmh, only the first on the list has a plethora of extra etchings, notifying stampers, the next 3 don't? All seem to be first pressings though? I have 2 copies,1 is opaque, rounded inner and s-1/s-1 etchings & the transl.red, rounded inner with the known etchings.
Oh,forgot the last factory issue of 1985,sounds really good (the one with the Rc etching).
Next on list is the metronome official '81 release.
The og cd & tape issues soung great too, btw. -
This was not a good sounding record pressing. Poor quality. the German pressing was far superior in sound quality

Unknown Pleasures left you unsettled,Closer gave an uncertain calmness and Still was a weird conclusion,as if the underdog lost in a poker-game ,grabbing all the chips.....got shot in his endeavour and left a beautiful corpse,....still,encapsulated one of the most beautiful covers (first run of 5000) ever made.....even the standard editions are a beauty of design.

You who own this record, please correct me if I am wrong:
This original 1st version has OUTSIDE B etched in the vinyl, i.e. on the side that has the black label?
so which track does this OUTSIDE B start with? 'She's Lost Control' or 'Disorder' ? -

Personally I can not see why this band get great reviews and fans. I bought the reissue out of interest and just don't get it, sorry. I'm into most music from 1930 to 2019 many genres but this left me cold.

Edited 5 years agoI have one of these paid £20 didn't really know it would be one of these.Anyway as far as i know its down to a product mix the record was made from not a special ed or anything. The cover is thinly textured though as apposed to the soild black vinyl original i have which has seen better days..
