Possibly my favorite 12" single of all time. Everything that was great about The Charlies is exemplified on this one three-song release, and the whole thing has a unified, jubilant feel to it. Deep groove, licks, confident swagger, all overflowing with confidence and energy. Upon its release, I thought the group sounded suddenly alert and watchful, prepared for action — a big change from the dreamy somnambulance that pervaded the "Between 10th and 11th" album before it. Mark Collins' guitar work is fully alive here, offering real riffs, not just washy, wah-ed out rhythmic atmospheres like the years before. These are fantastic songs, themes of my adolescence.
