Quality pressing, no backround sound, distortion, or click us or pops. Overall great sounding album.

Edited 3 years agoThere are two types of blues, that which came before "Texas Flood", and everything that followed. Okay, I'm being facetious, however this is a must-own record, no question.
Stevie lays out his Texas blues style, driving and fiery, influenced by Albert King, Jimi Hendrix, Muddy, et al. His tone is enormous, perhaps due to the heavy gauge strings which he bends effortlessly. His studio tone resembles his live tone fairly well, though a bit more compressed in the studio. Yes, growing up in Texas, I got to see Stevie in the summers at Austin Aquafest, Antone's, and Steamboat.
Every track here is a winner, but highlights include "Texas Flood" (duh), "Pride And Joy", "Lenny", and "Dirty Pool".
Chris and Tommy are solid companions and have erected a sturdy platform to showcase SRV. They do not solo, and keep out of the way of this musical behemoth.
Recording is great, nicely tracked and mixed. No complaints.
This is the '83 Pitman pressing and is very nice. Great dynamics and super clean. Plenty of low end two.
This is one of my favorite albums of all time, and it gets 5 stars.
