Amazing sound, just perfect. Very good bass presence and great soundstage with an incredible sounding Peter Gabriel. Deluxe gatefold edition. What more could you ask for? High resolution digital included, because it has it.

The sound is due to electronic manipulation during recording. It compresses and removes all original sound of the instruments. Never liked this treatment with U2 and this album.
It is the production, the CDs are brighter, but not much better. -
Does anyone know why this edition sounds so compressed, distorted, and even worse than the 1992 CD?
Thanks in advance.

Wow, Washing of the Water is sibillant as heck on my copy (and I use an AT Microline stylus so I don't normally get this issue...)

Edited 5 years agoI picked this up @ the Barnes and Noble 50% off sale.Disc 2 has a slight warp but plays ok.

Just bought a copy @ Barnes & Noble...at 50% off $37.99 retail. Sounds quite nice, but damn, 2 of the 3 LPs are warped considerably. Only Side E (single sided last disc) is flat.
How is it that in this day and age warped records are still made, and then allowed to ship? -
I have known that a lot of records manufactured in 2015, the 45 rpm are defective factory, avoid buying that print run.
I bought the reissue 2016 and I have not had problems; They sound incrible. Only Peter Gabriel Security brings the label of the decentered side 2, but not its reproduction -
Additionally, this recording has very little dynamic range compression (0.6 as measured by DRC-Meter).

These limited edition, numbered, 45 rpm half-speed master editions are awesome. They are whisper quiet and have a very strong signal (+1.5 dB on my scale). They also come with a free digital and you can select 24-bit, 48 kHz hi-resolution versions. In addition the LPs come in beautiful gatefold jackets (even if the original album was not gatefold). They are produced directly by Peter Gabriel’s company and so they are done right. These albums are my most prized and loved possessions.
I am a huge Peter Gabriel fan and had to get them all. Us is one of my less favorite Peter Gabriel albums; but I would rather listen to my least favorite Peter Gabriel music than most anything else. “Blood of Eden” is my favorite track and, of course, this album contains the hit, “Steam”. As with all the others the production and mastering on this version is precisely perfect—a joy to listen to.
